Larry always gave credit where it was due, and Michael Jordan was one of the ones he had mad respect for, and he never tried to diminish an honestly great player.

Didn’t even mention that he finished 2nd in MVP 4 times, 3rd once, & 4th as a rookie. Those 6 seasons plus his 3 straight MVP seasons were all in his 1st 9 years. 4th, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, MVP, MVP, MVP, 3rd, & 2nd! Led the league in defensive win shares 4 times and finished 2nd twice in his 1st 7 pro years. The other season was a 5th place finish. His 8th & 9th years were 6th & 18th. He also shot 50/40/90 in both his 8th & 9th years. Took Boston to 8 ECF’s in his 1st 9 years. Took them to 5 Finals in his 1st 8 years. Won 3 titles in his 1st 7 years. The home record streak that started in 85/86 & stretched to the end of 86/87 will never be touched. 89-3! (40-1 regular season, 10-0 playoffs in route to the title, then 39-2 the next regular season). 89-3! Opposing teams knew going to Boston was just a road trip to go collect an L! (Two of those 3 losses were by 5 points. The Celtics were in both of those games late into the 4th). 89-3!!! Bird won 3 straight 3pt shootouts (the only 3 he ever entered). He has a career 73.58% win rate. 2nd highest ever among guys that have played at least 500 games. Feb 18th 1985 3 quarter game where he finished 1 steal shy of what would have been the 2nd ever quadruple double. He had 30 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, & 9 steals. He also had 2 blocks. He left the game after the 3rd quarter & watched the final 12 minutes from the bench. There’s the 88’ ECSF game 7 duel with Dominique where Bird shot 9-10 from the field in the 4th quarter including 6-6 on his last 6 shots, scoring 20 in the quarter & leading the Celtics to the W! Dominique scored 14 that same 4th quarter. There’s so so so much more! #Legend!

Basketball was so much fun back then. All-Star games 7-3, east/west. Eastern Conference was brutal in the 80’s, while western conference was lightweight.

Sean Kemp was given 40+ points in THREE quarters... That last tiny detail was left out of the video edit.

Larrys court IQ, trash talk/head games and play making, scoring & passing was how me made up for his lack of crazy athleticism, he didnt need to jump to the moon to be effective - in fact, many times he was just as effective with his off the ball work
