Meredith Whittaker is a shining example of why we need more people with humanities backgrounds in leadership positions in tech.

❤ the mission of Signal. We need to push back on the surveillance thieves of tech.

She is cheerful. I enjoyed her laughing at the end. She is different from all other tech bosses. Her focus is on privacy as a human right. She is not greedy to make money out of signal. That's simply unbelievable in a materialistic world where everyone is hurtling after materialistic gains.

Bordering on a gotcha interview but Meredith handled it with grace! Beautiful mind and beautiful spirit. Protect this woman at all costs

Great substantive interview, and I really enjoyed all sides of this important discussion. I am beyond thankful for people like Meredith Whittaker -- she can explain these things so well and in-depth, while still keeping it practical and understandable. Every time I see her speak on these issues seriously, clear-eyed, and empathetic — I donate to Signal.

it is terrifying that the host of this show is THAT naia've about the preciousness of privacy. really shocking how ignorant grown people can be in this day and age. thankYou Mishal Husain for speaking to this incredibly essential conversation. the way the host CUT OFF THE STORY Mishal was sharing at the 14min mark

It isn't only privacy that's threatened. Public networks made proprietary pose a profound threat to to democracy and freedom. A new generation of political leaders is required to implement robust antitrust measures while there is still time.

It's a little bizarre to me how the host's pro-surveillance agenda with these questions is going entirely unchecked and unaddressed in these comments. But it all makes sense from a Bloomberg channel. And I bet my comment is going to magically sink to the bottom or disappear. Hmmm.

As someone who is in the tech world and knows the capabilities and how data is currently gathered I'm EXTREMELY CONCERNED about the way things are going! I feel like it's too late. Corporations are already breaking laws to infringe on our rights and they have ZERO incentive to stop because paying a $100M settlement 5yrs from now means nothing to them, yet the damage to millions of people is pervasive, ubiquitous and irreparable. The data they have will live forever and be used by people with motivations to harm us for their benefit. It IS frustrating that I have an idea for how bad it is and the people around me are utterly ignorant and flippant. The complete lack of ethics and repercussions by and for the corps that now govern us is deeply deeply troubling.
