  "I make horror because i am scared" Is such a tragic thing when you look at the context of the film. like oh my gosh. She was dating someone who had a decaying corpse in his closet that she couldn't smell because she was on medication that inhibited her sense of smell. she was dating a murderer, a murderer who KILLED HIS EX and she couldn't tell. So she made a film about the complete and utter terror and anger towards the violent man who she was dating

  I feel like a reason possibly in Michigan also feels uncanny is because despite them being in very public places (a mall and a street) there's no one but the two women and the cannibal. It makes you feel trapped in this situation with them in a way,,, if that makes sense. It also makes the whole thing very liminal

  In criminal psychology, cannibalism is often tied to dominance and humiliation by the perpetrator. So in this story, a predator attempts to dominate and humiliate these women - and they turn the tables.

  I will say you could interpret eating the cannibal as being representative of the anger and desire to be violent right back at the people that have hurt you

  was CONVINCED that this was a big channel that i'd just stumbled upon based on quality alone, was shocked to see that this is your first video! this video was really cool - i'd only really heard about the film from friends and by reputation before, and genuinely didn't realize what i'd heard was only an excerpt of the film. hope to see more from you in the future! :p

  After watching Beneath the Skin, I couldn't help but feel like Possibly in Michigan was, in part, Cecelia dealing with her unresolved real life trauma by creating a fantasy scenario in which she was actually close to Holly, recognized her boyfriend for the violent and dangerous man he was, and was able to save Holly's life and take revenge on her boyfriend for his terrible actions by turning his violence back on him.
