  The common element that keeps all of these photos from being boring and ordinary is the lighting. Balance, composition, color and contrast are all important, but it's the lighting that makes or breaks a photo. That's the magic potion.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0ceIXluoPs&amp;t=125">2:05</a> is an artefact of using a telephoto lens (from a long distance away from the volcano...). The bird is much closer to the camera than it is to the lava.

  This was beautiful. &nbsp;So many of them looked like Renaissance painting. &nbsp;As someone pointed out: it is the lighting,shading and the shadows that made the differences. &nbsp;Thank you for compiling this group. &nbsp;I thing I will visit my local art museums soon.
