Germany’s real challenge isn’t finding one “next big thing.” It’s figuring out how to connect engineering, software, chips, and manufacturing before others do it faster.

as a specialist skilled expat living and working in Germany for many years, i could sum up most of the German line of thinking esp the traditional ones: they see that their old boat has got many holes and water is coming in; you offer them rescue using your own boat; they take a look and inspect your boat first for water leakage; still take forever to abandon their own leaking boat hoping for some miracles they could still be saved without your help!

Germany is way too slow and bureaucratic. Stuck in slow processes and blocking advanced technology. This way a country cannot progress

the reason this is happening to Germany is their mindset - unlike our Dutch neighbours for example, Germans are notoriously late adaptors of EVERYTHING. The resistance to adapt to new technologies or principles early or even consider them is stunting the growth of the country. Plus they are very problem oriented rather than solution oriented: a German will find you 100 reasons why an idea can't be implemented, rather than finding 1 way to make it work quickly.

Great video, not just Germany Europe as a whole needs to rethink their future and start to invest in domestic tech companies, not sending money abroad and so being dependable on outside partners

Everything depends on cheap energy which Germany no longer has access to.

In terms of "country", software and AI is pedestrian. Hard defense is complex. Biotech, maybe. Chips, the boat sailed a long time ago.
