You guys touched on something briefly that is at the core of what could save beginners hundreds, if not thousands. The problem with being a new comer to the pedalboard realm is that we do not even know what problems we might run into, and most importantly, why we would run into these problems. Your combined thousands of pedal board builds are amazing, and I think a video explaining the problems we might run into, and why, would be yet another invaluable tool to have. Thank you all for your work, and will definitely look into supporting you in my build if my research and your product offerings aline.

Years of gigging my fav so far is gator board. I was using different versions of Holeyboard for years and the newest ones looked promising, but when mine broke and i dropped my board breaking pedals i retired them permanently. Im now using gators and im in love. They are super heavy duty and the case is pretty nice. My one complaint is the built in power supply clamp doesn’t fit my strymon zuma so i ended up drilling holes and using the zuma brackets

    Hi guys,

First of all, thank you for the flowers! We really appreciate it.

I’d like to address a couple of points that have come up. The first is the perception that our boards are heavy. While they’re certainly not the lightest on the market, they are “engineered for life” and built for “life on the road,” offering an impressive strength-to-weight ratio. This durability means our boards are designed for serious touring—not just for home or studio use. Just ask artists like Josh Smith, Chris Buck or Ariel Posen, who have logged countless gigs with our boards at their feet.

It’s also worth noting that all of our sizes, from the SA450 and smaller, are compact enough to be taken on board as hand luggage.

This brings me to my second point: there appears to be a lot of focus on the need to fly with gear. Perhaps this is more of a European perspective, but I wonder—how many guitarists actually travel by air with their equipment? My guess is that it’s a relatively small percentage of the total guitar community. Of course, I’m always eager to learn, so if the situation is different in the US or elsewhere, please let me know!

Martyn Smith - Schmidt Array Pedalboards

Likewise I love these Chairmen of The Board episodes, you deserve a higher number of subs!

I have the Fender Small pedalboard also, just to add to Grant’s comments around fiddly cable management under the board, I also found that the holes in the board for threading the power cables etc through are also a bit restirictive, and I’d prefer bigger apertures to allow more flexibility up top if that makes sense.

It is a lovely looking board though and the Fender power (I have the Level 8) fits nicely.

Some good discussion as always. I don’t see why Temple couldn’t be used for touring though if you get the hard case.

I used Pedaltrains for years. Good company. But the Temple boards are game changers. I like their pedal plates, but you can use Dual Lock if you wish.

Hey guys, Aclam boards doesn't need any "glueing" of stuff on the pedals (like a Templeboards I believe) the system is rubber fastners that grips the pedals from the sides: you can move your pedal however you want, only the fastners are following the rails.

Temple Audio absolutely needs to be on the list and if anything is probably one of the top boards out there. As for touring, countless artists have been using them on tour so I’m not sure what the concern is. The ability to not use Velcro or adhesives is absolutely attractive and my recommendation to anyone who asks me to build. The mods they offer are outstanding, even down to the AmpMod.

Pivotal is another nice one and after I modded it offers quite a bit. It’s checks the box for convince but with a traditional look.

Enjoyed the conversation, but temple needs to be up there, if not one of the top.

I don't tour, but I play locally in my city and have a few of the new holeyboard modules and love them. It's all steel, so it's sturdy and the modules are great for me, I can easily set something up for a smaller gig or expand it out when I need a bunch of effects.
