THANK YOU for saying it's not normal to be working multiple jobs! When I was in my 20s (20 years ago) I was working 4 days a week 9-5 in retail and making enough to rent a slightly crappy apartment, run a second hand car, and buy cigarettes (I don't smoke anymore which is good cause I wouldn't be able to afford it 😅). And I didn't panic when bills were due. REMEMBER WHAT THEY TOOK FROM US!

I have reached a point in my life where I just don’t want to have to worry about my basic needs anymore. I don’t want to have to strategize for hours to get groceries, and pay my bills. I don’t want to have to worry about my car breaking down in some way and not being able to fix it, and I mean smaller things like a new tire in case you get a flat, or a new battery.
When I dream about riches, I dream about paying of all debt and being able to afford a nice sized house for my family.

Oof the 27 dollars a day video hit me hard! I’m absolutely super guilty of not realizing how quickly those little purchases add up, especially on Amazon.

Laughing loudly at the idea an 18 year old should have $1,500 in savings. That is coming from a place of privilege. 18 year old me hadn't even SEEN that much money at one time.

(Also, petty but like. What dollars? US? Canadian? Australian? 1.5k is gonna be different in every country with a dollar...)

I do not have "all the respect for influencers." Just because someone makes a lot of money does not automatically mean they deserve higher amounts of respect. I'll judge that by HOW they make the money and if it actually benefits people short and long term. For example i don't respect influencers promoting AI reliant hustles selling courses on how to become a slop channel, selling the possibility of ridiculously high income estimates. They just make the internet worse and now Low effort content filled, inhuman content filled, and run off with money from people who desperately want quick cash.

22:25 This is because people are being "triggered" by the suggestion to shop less, because shopping is their main coping mechanism for negative things in their lives. 😢🛍

The comment about how contacting representatives is designed to be difficult hits hard as I try and do that for so many issues right now. I’ve done really well with adjusting my spending now that I’m avoiding Amazon and Target

I only lost weight when I stopped worrying about my weight and started worrying about how mean I was to myself. I put the work in to love myself at the size I was already. When I changed the goal things fell into place. I started eating without allowing myself to feel guilty about it. Self love is the only thing that worked for me. I realized that I had never seen anyone ugly because of their weight. It was always their personality. I simply gifted myself the same courtesy. I am allowed to feel beautiful in my own body. When I did that I shed the extra weight that I carried and found out it was only there because I was being unkind to myself.

I think the "treat yoself" mentality has gotten things twisted. But the show Parks and Rec turned meme and was a catalyst for this. But the whole point was taking one single day out of the year to do what you want without the internal struggle. Like, if you've been talking yourself out of buying that one dress or toy or necklace or spa day, etc for weeks or months now and still really want it, you have one day a year to justify doing something nice for yourself. You deserve to treat yourself as kindly as you treat a loved one. Buy yourself a gift if it makes you happy. Give yourself permission and treat yoself because otherwise you'll deny yourself out of guilt. and its financially feasible to do this because you have saved your money all year. its supposed to be like a birthday. But its gotten incorporated into everyday mentality. Like an un-birthday. I feel bad spending money on myself so I didn't even question the message behind treat yoself. It felt like something i needed to hear. That's why it makes me sad seeing people have that mindset, like everyday is not your birthday. that's not sustainable.

I don't understand many of these creators saying "i love these influencers, i would be just like them" and then berating the audience for consuming their content. I'm over tiktok's tone of berating and lecturing people. All I ever see on tiktok is either people selling stuff or people patronising the audience, or usually both at the same time. It's truly exhausting.

I would also like to say that it is very normal to be unemployed in your 20s and 30s, because the economy is totally fucked. I have a Master's Degree, and I've been unemployed for 2 years, so I am totally broke approaching my 30s. Life happens.
