  As someone who was born and raised and Fort Myers, I can tell you that a lot of local residents in the city and local rural area of Buckingham are not very happy with the Babcock Ranch developers, because they tried to take over and demolish the Lee Civic Center, a center for rural activities, and turn it into a &quot;mega-resort&quot;.

  Great macro breakdown of where the investment capital is flowing! However, as a Central Florida local, I noticed a couple of major blind spots in that data section—especially for a Central Florida creator. You completely missed Osceola County and NeoCity. Between the massive advanced semiconductor packaging shifts and the global tech expansions landing there right now, Osceola is a huge piece of this infrastructure story.<br>More importantly, the video glazes over the serious resource and infrastructure detriments coming with this boom. We&apos;re talking about massive baseline energy loads and millions of gallons of daily water use drawing from Florida&apos;s already struggling freshwater aquifers. While current statistics don&apos;t fully show the damage yet, and the state just had to pass a new law (SB 484) to legally block Big Tech from passing these massive grid and water-loop costs onto residential ratepayers, the long-term strain on our environment is a massive missing chapter here.<br>On top of the utility impact, nobody is talking about ground-level road infrastructure. Right down the road from me, developers are dropping in a massive multi-hundred-unit complex, yet the entry relies on a minor, partial-lane turn-off from an already congested path. If local counties and utilities don’t start forcing adequate lane widening and utility guardrails before these massive influxes hit, the reality for everyday residents is going to be absolute gridlock and drained resources. Would love to see a follow-up video diving into the local bottleneck reality!

  It’s a shame. It’s a shame that all of the locals have no say or control and get to watch their home get destroyed just like they destroyed California and then they will leave and run away from it just as fast.

  Wow, we need the data centers that will raise our electricity prices because they don&apos;t pay the whole cost, we do. &nbsp;Screw all this growth. &nbsp;The thing I support is protection the environment...period.

  I&apos;ve lived in Florida since the 70s. &nbsp;All this development isn&apos;t a benefit. &nbsp;I wish people could have seen the Florida I saw when I was a kid. &nbsp;It was much better back then.

  As a Floridian that lives in Sebring, I am quite happy to watch the boom that is happening right now and to also watch Florida surpass almost every other state in every category possible and will be interesting to watch flying taxis around Sebring lol

  “Billions in development” does not automatically mean better lives for Floridians. <br> <br>Who gets the contracts? Who gets the tax breaks? Who pays for the roads, power, water, and infrastructure? What happens to insurance, traffic, utilities, housing costs, and local control? <br> <br>A hyperscale data center can inflate land values while consuming enormous amounts of electricity and water. Luxury towers can enrich developers while pricing working families out. Publicly supported infrastructure can create private profits while taxpayers absorb the risk. <br> <br>So before calling this an “economic boom,” show the public cost, the subsidies, the wages created, and who actually benefits. <br> <br>Economic development is not the same thing as developer enrichment.
