UPDATE: Not long after this was uploaded Billy Parker actually reached out to me via his wife tracking me down on social media. He and I maintain contact to this day. This is by far the biggest honor I've ever had from doing these videos

Class A CDL holder here. When I was in CDL school, we were told about this accident. Never start across until your entire vehicle can clear on the other side.

In the words of sheriff John Burnell, " You're ten times likely to die in a crash with a train than in a crash with another car"

Safety went over this accident when I worked at a fuel hauling company. They said if you're ever in this situation, push cars out of the way and deal with insurance or die

I was almost killed at this scene. I work for KSM Electronics in 1993 and was going back to the facility down Cypress Creek road when the crossing lights activated. I was behind the Hess tanker, and did not want to be stuck behind the gate, so I swerved around it with my small Toyota Tercel, and turned right at Powerline road northbound. I had no idea the tanker was stuck on the crossing. Got a few blocks when a tremendous BOOM shook the air! I thought a Learjet had crashed because of the black plume of smoke rising behind me. I felt chills run up my spine when I realized that split-second decision saved my life!

I‘m „pleasantly“ surprised that nobody on AMTK died in that fireball…

I feel really sorry for the engineer and his experience in the many wrecks he had to face. It’s also sad on how many people tend to blame the train crew for accidents they have no control over.

Charter bus driver here. My story at a railroad crossing is this. My company rules regarding railroad crossings are always stop at all crossings if you have passengers or not. One time I stopped at a crossing and saw a train approaching, but for some weird reason the crossing arms didn't lower. A state patrol across the tracks cycled his lights and I pointed at the train approaching. After it went by, his eyes were wide and he was on his radio calling someone. I checked again and crossed the train tracks.

I just had an incident today where a woman in a Mercedes (go figure) was stopped on the crossing with the gate down. She was clear enough to allow MOW equipment through, and luckily that's what we ran. If it was a locomotive we'd have to wait for her to move it was that close. If anyone finds themselves on the tracks with a gate down behind you, just pull forward and clear the crossing, don't pull a deer in the headlights tiny brain move like that.

We need more documentaries on these obscure/forgotten accidents.
