  Azar took captaincy under bishen bedi and flourished under Wadekar. He did not have bowlers for overseas conditions. Only javagal he had. As a batter,he might not have many centuries abroad but his average is 42+

  I remember when I started watching cricket in 1998. That time Sahin was out of team due to shoulder and tennis elbow issue and Ganguly and S. Ramesh used to open for India.

  In 1990s, Until 1998 August, Azhar batting average was higher than Sachin.. Sachin started hitting 100s and became run machine after he got promotted to Opening position where he found comfortable to score runs while 2 outfielders in the 1st 15 overs... Azhar scored nearly 10000 runs playing in the middle order and become 2nd highest run scorer in the 1990s Era from middle order.. He was the only player scored 50 Half centuries in 1990s Era...
