Even if they had been unified, that would have only helped them last maybe a few more months. They had already made too many mistakes for that to matter. By 1943, the war was lost.

Divida et impera!<br>This is exactly what happens when loyalty is more important than results.<br>Many dictators accept/tolerate a parallel military force (even if it's inefficient) as long as this force will remain loyal to them. Even Putin has tolerated Wagner Group, until its mutiny in June 2023.
