I tell this story to my children, I tell them how scared I was as a young Ranger, how cold it was on that mountain. And i tell them that if it wasn't for a brave man, that their father would have died on that mountain. He is a true hero and should be celebrated with a holiday.

This was in the dark in the snow on top of an Afghan mountain.  Infrared makes it looks like daylight.

Watching the last minutes of a man's life where he chooses his battle buddies over his own life is the most impactful footage I've ever witnessed! That is a straight warrior, a real super hero!

It is good to see the reaction and care this young lady had.  She has the sweet heart of a princess.

I’m American, and every time I see that video I cry. The amount of situations just like that one that aren’t recorded, that our soldiers go through and heroically fight to the death to save their friends and keep us free is uncountable. Words cannot possibly describe how heroic those actions are.

My cousin is currently a USAF Combat Controller like Chapman, and Chapman is an absolute legend. His MOH should have been bestowed long before it should have been, but that’s a whole other story. Thank you for your beautiful and heartfelt reaction. I was a DOD contractor, and I had the pleasure of working with members of the British SAS, the UK’s Tier One Operators, who are second to none in the world of special forces.

Anyone in their right mind would be scared in combat. Courage is not a lack of fear. It is the overcoming of fear. Without fear courage doesn't exist. This was absolutely an example of true selfless courage and determination to save others.
