  Having stayed at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, I can see why the hotel has such a distinctive character. I chose the Suite Balcony, and the room was a really comfortable size, with a separate bedroom and living area, a large bathroom with a soaking tub and rain shower, and most importantly for me, a private balcony overlooking Bangkok. &nbsp;That balcony was what gave the room its wow factor without making the whole stay feel overly luxurious or extravagant. &nbsp;The hotel itself is modern, stylish, and quite playful, with a lively atmosphere rather than the more formal feel of a traditional five-star hotel.<br><br>I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast too. &nbsp;It is served at The Parlor from around 7am to 11am, so there was no need for me to rush out early. &nbsp;There was a good selection of both Western and Asian choices, and I found the quality quite good. &nbsp;I also liked that the breakfast setting felt comfortable and stylish rather than like one of those huge, crowded hotel buffets. &nbsp;I would definitely include breakfast when booking, although I wouldn&apos;t say breakfast alone is what makes this hotel special.<br><br>Food-wise, there are quite a few choices without even leaving the hotel — The Parlor, Mott 32, The Standard Grill and Ojo, plus 24-hour room service. &nbsp;I liked having so many options available, especially on days when I simply wanted to stay in and enjoy the hotel. &nbsp;At the same time, Bangkok has far too much good food to stay in the hotel for every meal, so I enjoyed going out to explore the cafés and restaurants as well.<br><br>The location worked very well for me. &nbsp;Chong Nonsi BTS is practically right outside, so there wasn&apos;t that long walk in the heat that I usually dislike. &nbsp;I could use the BTS when it made sense, and Grab when I wanted something more comfortable, especially after shopping or when the weather was hot. &nbsp;It isn&apos;t in the Siam shopping area itself, but getting to Siam, Chit Lom, and other parts of Bangkok was straightforward. &nbsp;I also liked being in the Silom/Bang Rak area, where there are plenty of places to eat and explore.<br><br>And I shouldn&apos;t leave out the rooftop because that&apos;s a big part of the experience here. &nbsp;Sky Beach on the 78th floor has spectacular views over Bangkok, while Ojo on the 76th floor gives you another impressive skyline setting. &nbsp;For me, it was simply about being up there, taking in the views, and enjoying the atmosphere. &nbsp;Hotel guests can enjoy the rooftop venues, although the Mahanakhon SkyWalk and Glass Tray are separate attractions.<br><br>If I had to point out anything I didn&apos;t particularly like, it would be the lively atmosphere. &nbsp;This isn&apos;t the kind of hotel where everything is quiet and restrained. &nbsp;There is music, nightlife, and quite a bit happening, so someone wanting a very peaceful, traditional luxury-hotel environment might find it a little energetic. &nbsp;The hotel restaurants are also more expensive than many places outside, although having them there is convenient.<br><br>Overall, what worked for me was the combination rather than any one thing — the spacious Suite Balcony, that private balcony and the Bangkok skyline, a good breakfast, BTS practically at the doorstep, plenty of food choices and the rooftop experience. &nbsp;I would definitely consider staying in the Suite Balcony again.

  Paddy, &nbsp;admission to the rooftop is half price for people at least 60 years old.

  I like the King Tower&apos;s rooftop terrace. I go there before sunset and stay until it gets dark. That way, you see Bangkok in a completely different light. I’ve done it twice already, and it won’t be the last time.

  I know many are saying this is an old video. But, although I’ve watched your videos for a few years, this one now resonates with me because I was considering that hotel as I will go there in a couple of months. So for me a win. Lol😅

  My family and I stayed in Iebue hotel in 2015 for 4 nights. &nbsp; OMG the buffet breakfast was the best that I ever had. &nbsp;Iebue probably has ten different kinds of breakfast. I mean each kind is from different country.
