  What I hated about starting a project car or even slowly building your daily, and you have people close to you telling you to just cut your loses and stop putting money into something that’s not going to give you back what you already invested. And it’s not about building a car and selling it. It’s the process and journey of it that makes it worth it. So don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

  If you like cars and doing the work required to fix them, buy an engine hoist, stand and a trans jack.

  You can&apos;t think of a project car as an &quot;investment&quot;, that&apos;s like thinking of gambling as a way to make money. Can it be done? Yes. Will that be you? Heck no. Got to think of them as entertainment. Don&apos;t spend more than you can afford to entertain yourself.

  My main car was down for about 1.5weeks. Nearly needed a loaner car. They had a free loaner come up, an old beater corolla. Got me and my gf thinking of our own beater. Saw this car on the side of the road on our way into town. Looked at it. 2002 hyuandai accent for $800. Under side in crazy good condition. We picked it up later that day and drove it home. They noted new front brakes and just a pop when turning the wheel full lock. Ok just check it over and replace the axle and were good. Front brakes were infact not new😂. Rear drums seized and 1 front caliper seized. All brakes were cooked. Took half a year getting it safetied. About 5 grand later. Took it to get safetied. Now it needs a ball joint and they didnt like the exhaust job. Another $550 later. Got it safetied. A few months later noticed tie-rod was quite bad, and front suspension noise. Replaced entire front suspension and wheel bearings. Took it in for alignment. Same day I got it back. The transmission acted up that night. Recently just got a Reman transmission, dropped the frame. Found bad mounts and $100 on paint. Cleaned &nbsp;the subframe and where it mounts primed and repainted to keep off rust. Replaced mounts. Runs and drives again after about 2 weeks👌. See&apos;s the timing belt. Another $200+ in parts and thats up and coming😫. The rear suspension rebuild and many more next year. It turned into a passion project.

  I have multiple “project cars” aka just old cars because I am aware that at any given time at least 1 of them will be broken in some way. Love my 1988 Pontiac Firebird, 1989 corvette and 1979 el Camino. Currently my el Camino needs a rear main seal because it’s leaking and the corvette has a bit of a coolant leak I need to track down. The Firebird is currently up and running though without any real issues.

  I work with a dude that went 40K in debt to build his project car into a track car/weekend warrior, only to track it once, and almost never drive it because it&apos;s uncomfortable, which we all warned him against. Now he&apos;s willing to go into even more debt to turn it back into something he can actually stand to drive. Dude acts like he&apos;s not going to be paying that loan off for the next 10-15 years. At this point if he ever gets fired, he &apos;s losing that car smdh.
