A neat trick also with looking at the campaign map zoomed out is that ruins that are occupied by Skaven armies will show they are garrisoned too! So even though its ruins you can still see if its owned by a Skaven faction.

The biggest Noob mistake I made was presuming the computer was following essentially the same rules set I was.
Retreat from Underway stance? You can't, they can.
Support five full-stacks with two small settlements? Guess what.
Stroll multiple armies through opposing factions' territory without causing a diplomatic issue? Yup.

Just treat the game less like a wargame and more like a Hero-based RPG where you're the only competent force on your side, and the presumptive target of any and every non-allied faction, and you'll do fine.

Then you can stop making Noob errors and start making "I'm just not a terrific player" errors like I do...

Playing as the Changeling. Just make people on the opposite side of the world pay you to get involved in wars, never get involved, and then when the faction you "joined war against" gets tired of seeing you in their war list, make them pay you as much as possible for peace because they'll normally do it to avoid sailing across the world to hunt you down for 20 years

My biggest help was taking my time to read everything. The difference between a flat +15 and +15% is ALOT bigger than it sounds ^^

Money tip: Never declare wars. Have someone you want to attack? See who they're at war with. Offer to join that enemy's war with your target in exchange for money. Because why do it for free?

I think a common newb mistake is the mindset that each army needs to operate independently of each other. Having 1.5-2 armies running around together makes siege battles so much more managable. Because a full enemy army afking in a settlement with a big garrison is a chore to grind through. Having backup, even if it's the cheapest trash units possible, is so unbelievably useful.

The biggest secret by far to manage your campaign is to get settlements you dont need and trade them for treaties that manage your borders or give your rediculous money. Also works for factions that hate you. Manage your borders and ensure nobody will hit you on the back whilst you are pushing.

Probably the second biggest newb mistake has got to be not using at least 1 agents on the campaign map. You really only need 1-2 agents active. But don't underestimate how useful they are. This is mostly caused by the fact that heroes are op af on the battlefield, but if a high elf noble damages an enemy army, wow that absolutely cripple that enemy army, making them easy pickings. Easier than doing the battle with the noble in it.
