I wish EMR’s were improved to load faster before us MD’s get replaced by AI.

This is the type of stuff that openAI wants you to think. Their product isn’t AI, it’s a shitty autofill; their real product is giving executives the ammo to fearmonger workers into lower wages. Don’t take the bait. They’re much further from AGI than they want you to think.

As someone in the bioinformatics field who's been using AI in my workflow (mostly to code), I think the whole AI will replace doctors sentiment to be quite overblown. In my experience, AI is really good at doing simple, menial tasks but struggles with complexity, something that expert humans, such as MDs, excel at.

I read the entire article...I'm going to be honest and say it just seemed like an ad and website streamer "Featured in" for his new business. It just wasn't very substantive.

I don't think any field is safe, but I did think we'd be at least protected for longer in medicine. Now I'm not so sure. The world is going to be a very different place in five years.

nothing can be predicted for sure lol, I remember at the beginning of Covid we were all laughing it out thinking it's overblown. We simply cannot fathom how quickly advanced AI features can become accessible. Most people, including me, don't know much about AI, and certainly not the advanced/tailored kinds you pay for, as well as future iterations.

I think really the only true argument anti ai people have is timelines and the technology stagnating/not improving, if it continues to accelerate it doesn't matter what weaknesses we feel it has now it will eat our lunches so to speak in this 20 year timeline. year by year things only get faster.

Dr. Jubbal, you will be able to see the "self-promotion" undertone of Aditya's post if you view it in the context of his whole family's entrepreneurial, capitalize-the-moment spirit. Look up Rishabh Jain (his brother) as well. Don't be surprised if it turns out to be a highly curated, professionally written pretext of a business venture rather than an authentic self-expression essay.

Crazy. This is the reason why I pivoted from finance into taking pre-med classes in hopes of making it to med school. I felt like the spreadsheet work and financial modeling felt worthless after the rollout of AI. I felt that personally, I needed to develop skills that were going to be needed in the future and would have more of a positive impact and value to others. I also grew to learn that I didn’t even enjoy any aspects of finance, especially the transactional nature when it comes to relationships, competing for jobs, and the greediness of the whole industry as of currently. That was just something I could never look past. I had originally thought that although AI could disrupt the medical field with much needed changes like faster diagnosis, efficiency, treatment effectiveness, and higher quality data collection, that there would still be a need for human specialists for patient advocacy and interaction, procedures, and treatment. I don’t know what is safe or admirable anymore. All I wanted was a clear purpose and to provide real value to the world. I am still taking on this path. It just sucks not knowing if I’ll be easily replaceable or not.

This just makes me think of Dr. Danby from Subnautica. After the crash, the doctor is alone in his sunken pod with a broken leg and suffering the symptoms of the Kharaa bacterium, and he says, "What does a doctor these days need to know about manually setting bones? That's what the robots are for! Doctors these days read diagnoses off of computer readouts. But what good is it when I'm not connected to the main network? What the hell do I know about how to treat an alien disease?"
