The fact that sil tried to get full custody, let alone divorced op's brother after she couldn't manipulate him anymore. Showed that she's beyond manipulative, insecure, hateful and spiteful. Especially when she sent that text accusing op of destroying her life. When she's the one that destroyed her own life. By making her husband focus on her instead of the kids. The fact that she's also so hateful towards the other women in the family. Proves that she's so insecure that she saw all females as competition for attention. Now she's outraged and bitter that she faced consequences. Not to mention that she didn't get away with being trying to be vindictive towards op's brother. I'm not surprised that she was diagnosed as a narcissist given how bitter and angry she is.

I’m quite sure she talked to him about the renovations before he died. Seen what was happening while planning them and wrote it down, a few months later he was dead.

How did grandpa know about everything OP did with the beach house when he had passed before she did the renovations? OP really was the only one who deserved his estate. Except maybe Patricia. Patricia deserved something for being his secret for 43 years. For giving up her child because Richard was a coward. But the family learned from his many mistakes.
