The Spinners didn’t get the same backing and material as The Temptations and they left Motown. Good move for them; they finally had success.

1961 was the Spinners first record That's What Girls Are Made For on Harvey Fuqua's Tri-Phi (try-fie) label and when the label merged with Motown, they cut three songs," That's What Girls Are Made For"(1961), I'll Always Love You" (1965) and "Truly Yours" (1966), and then later on "It's A Shame " (1970) their only #1. They had 2 albums one from the 60s called "The Original Spinners" (1966) and their last album "Second Time Around"(1970).<br>In 1972, they left Motown for Atlantic Records, and teamed up with producer Thom Bell, and the rest is history

They were the best. My friend Joe Jackson on lead Guitar. I knew them ,I am so happy for them. They got their dues. That is what you should be talking about.

The follow-up record was called "We'll HAVE it Made" which it didn't have the momentum of It's A Shame, and didn't chart well

The Narrator need to get her facts straight especially when she started that the Spinners nearly suffered the same fate at Atlantic Records as they did at Motown, COMPLETELY NOT TRUE. The truth is that when they arrived at Atlantic Records it was Thom Bell that approached them with 4 songs and had each Member sing and when he came back probably a Month later they released How could I let you get Away as the A side, I'll be Around as the B side. Had they released I'll be Around as the A side it definitely would've reached #1 on the Pop Charts 📈📉 for sure simply cause of the Momentum that was lost by not releasing it as the A side in which they did after it took off like a Rocket 🚀 when DJ'S flipped over the Record and the rest is History!!!

I have to correct you on that. The Four Tops were never on Gordy, or Tamla.
