  THANK YOU for the oil pump lesson! I have always felt it was a waste of time to &quot;Center&quot; it with feelers....I am going to continue to bolt it up and send it.

  FINALLY someone said it!! 😂. Even melling has a video on centering the oil pump and it consists of rotating the crankshaft then tightening to spec. NOT SHIMMING. Thank you!!

  I still be shimming the oil pump. We did a test. We ran one pump the way melling says and we shimmed the second one. Ran both of them for about 15 min. Pulled them apart and the first one had marks on the bottom side of the inside wall. The second one had some, but it looked almost new.

  My dad retired from GM and is gone now and i would give anything if i had listened and payed more attention and stored the wealth of knowledge he shared with me but i was young and dumb at the time. I do remember a bit of how they determined the viscosity and hydrodynamic oil film &nbsp;per engine application by measuring the resistance through the oil film somehow, it was many yrs ago and there was more to it than i can remember. To bad we dont have a way to store the knowledge that passes with them.

  Thanks for taking the time to record this video. I am new to LS engines, actually I am a Chevy big block guy. I will be building one of these 6.0L from scratch next year using a Gen IV block. I learned a lot from this and I like your style.

  His center piston rings cost more than my whole build. Not hating, loving it all, and appreciate all of this.
