  the way Sam describes Lola at the beginning is foreshadowing to how she ACTUALLY feels about her - which is nothing. &quot;Lola is the only person in my life you could actually call a friend.&quot;<br><br>YOU could call a friend, not that Sam herself could possibly call Lola a friend. she&apos;s saying &quot;you&quot; because the audience can understand, but Sam cannot. she understands what the word means, but it means nothing to her

  I love how Sam&apos;s reason for trying to catch Nigel isn&apos;t like any other thriller or murder mystery. No moral qualms, no wanting to work with a kindred spirit, not even curiosity about a fellow serial killer. Just &quot;Oh my god this stupid kid is going to get us both busted&quot;

  I hear a prequel is being made, and I&apos;m interested to learn more about Sam. Her flavour of sociopathy is very rare, because a lack of empathy/love doesn&apos;t make pointless murder any less pointless.<br><br>MOST sociopaths are driven by human instincts for safety, comfort, and control, none of which are aided by murder. Yet Sam seems to murder specifically because it MAKES her feel safe, comfortable, and in control. For her mind to have correlated the two, some VERY formative events must have occurred when she was young.

  People need to stop calling the bear “not completely heartless” for having a rule against killing in town. She does that to throw off suspicion. She’s a monster. Her duck victim just wanted to help a stranger out.

  Its so interesting that they write Sam as our hero protag and its such a feat to make us root for her because she&apos;s not just a serial killer, she&apos;s an irredeemable serial killer. She doesn&apos;t have some morally grey &quot;code&quot;, like she only kills bad people or something, no fact she&apos;s the opposite: Sam only kills good and kind people. She might identify with the wild bears (the way their killing isn&apos;t personal or targeted, its just their nature) and she tells herself that &quot;Keep it random&quot; is her rule, but its actually not as random as she thinks.<br><br>Daniel the Duck was only trying to help her out of the goodness of his heart; his compassion and his generosity. Sam didn&apos;t approach him, didn&apos;t engage with him first, he was just the unlucky one who offered help seeing someone in need. And if that&apos;s Sam&apos;s MO, waiting on the unlucky next person to offer help, then she DOES have a specific type of victim. She&apos;s only killing people who are kind enough to offer to help out a stranger unprompted. But because she&apos;s a psychopath and doesn&apos;t understand love or compassion, she doesn&apos;t even realise that pattern and genuinely thinks its untargeted.

  Something that I noticed when i read this comic is how Samantha seems to be the only apex predator in the story while everyone else is a harmless pet or barn animal like a duck, mouse, or dog. <br>I have a theory, I dont think these people are actual animals at all, they’re all humans but Samantha just sees them as harmless animals and herself as a apex predator.

  I love how towards the end the comic makes sure to remind you that just because Samantha stopped Nigel, doesn&apos;t mean she&apos;s the hero of the story, and may even be worse than him. She was completely willing to kill the closest thing she had to a friend, and the one person Nigel cared about, just to get to him. On top of that the way she killed him was just extremely brutal both physically and emotionally. She hasn&apos;t had any big revelations, she&apos;s implied to be continuing her murders once everything calms down, and only really cared when it looked like she was going to get caught.<br>She&apos;s just as much of a heartless monster as she always was.

  The idea of a experienced serial killer trying to catch a novice so she doesn’t get caught is a really cool idea for a story and the picture book art style is the cherry on top

  One thing I really like is how perfect the art style is. Many &quot;unassuming&quot; horror/gorey stories usually have an eerie look to their cute characters. Which isn&apos;t a bad thing but I love it when the art style could legitimately pass for (in this case) a normal children&apos;s book/comic.

  I think the ending where she frames Nigel works very well. People have said that the police could probably figure out that Sam did it, but i think that serves the story very well. Woodbrook is a town where &quot;everyone knows your name&quot; and the townspeople don&apos;t want to suspect each other.<br><br>We first see this when Bertie omits Melody from his report to the police, likely because he didn&apos;t want her to be implicated. Melody has been putting on a cheery front to hide the depths of her depression, for the sake of everyone in town. Lola was hiding the fact that she knew Sam and Nigel were killers the whole time, likely because she loved them both.<br><br>Sam is a well-loved member of the community, whose been around for decades. Nigel is relatively younger and has been at college for a while. There are a number of townspeople who didn&apos;t even know his name, and he killed them for that. He is essentially an outsider and the police could easily overlook any weird details to preserve the status quo. It&apos;s possible that they didn&apos;t even investigate that much since it seemed like such an open-and-shut case.<br><br>&quot;The murderer isn&apos;t that sweet old neighbor across the street, it&apos;s that young punk from out of town. Case closed.&quot;<br><br>Sam doesn&apos;t murder in Woodbrook, so everything will go back to normal &amp; she will never be suspected.

  The Karen Pig is one of those characters you really really hate until you see the humanity part of her kinda puts everything in perspective, she&apos;s probably use to defending her husband a lot so she&apos;d go off on anything even if they didn&apos;t deserve it. And her suddenly accusing anyone is just her being overly cautious and then she got too overconfident in herself when she just chooses ONE day to go out on her own. Yeah she&apos;s awful, but she certainly didn&apos;t deserve to die the way she did.

  It feels so depressing and fucked up that we see a redeeming quality of Cherry (her genuine love for her husband) right before she&apos;s slaightered.
