  I truly wish one of my great friends was still alive today with videos like this. His name was Lionel ( Lindy ) Lindheimer, and along with Jim Jeffords, they started the racing program for Corvette in the late 50s. He would talk about meeting with Zora, and going to Rochesters plant to overhaul the GM fuel injection unit. I love history, especially Chevy/GM HISTORY

  This engine wasn’t just power, it was rebellion on wheels. Smokey’s Hemi 302 feels like the legend GM was too afraid to let live. 🔥🏁

  Smokey actually had a Chevy Impala body "acid dipped" to reduce the weight, reassembled the car, and raced it successfully!!!!

  What's really weird is it's NOT a Hemi...it's a small block with splayed valves like a Big Block Chevy...guess again...

  The 302 z twenty eight was what the early hot roders did by taking a two eighty three block.And boring, it a hundred and twenty five thousands overboard.Then, when the three twenty seven block came out, they used a three twenty seven block and the two eighty three crank.And rods and built the 302
