  It says a lot about how discussions are held when Dr. Fatima said explicitly "I will read your comments and respond to the good faith ones" and even then, people who have made really solid points are surprised that their comments actually got considered. The feeling of powerlessness by not being taken seriously is so prevalent in our minds that we are surprised even when someone who says explicitly that they will take us seriously ends up taking us seriously. Major props to you Dr. Fatima for actually engaging with people and making them feel heard as well as expanding the conversation.

  I was so thrilled that you engaged with my comment about Pluto... and then moments later horrified at how harsh some of what i said sounded lol, so i had a mini-meta version of your experience making this video 😂 Sorry for going over the word limit and thanks for taking up what i said anyway and for leaving it a few days to form a response. I take your points in response, especially re: anti-trans views & conservative appeals to middle school "facts", and the things you said about how we stay within the bounds of argument/acceptability that favour the status quo resonated strongly.

  Oh damn, my citation comment got included! I thought for sure my pedantic ranting on citation standards would get disqualified out-of-hand after I saw that the first three-quarters of the video discusses actual substantive critiques. Also, seeing my horrible grammar memorialized forever in video form is a bit embarrassing.<br><br>For context, the things that inspired my comment were seeing how many dead hyperlinks and other broken features exist on sites archived in the Wayback Machine, and a short discussion about digital longevity with some archivists that work at LANL.

  I saw a lot of videos on YouTube. it feels like it&apos;s the first video really engaging with its audience.<br><br>I mean, there are creators answering comments but I really feel your efforts to put you at the same level of everyone like I never had seen it before 😯

  I actually have thought about “blindspot” and while I also get the impression that most blind people don’t care, “gaps in understanding” or other such phrases work fine. Also blind spots are a feature of human eye anatomy and don’t necessarily refer to blind people. We all have (literal) blindspots

  Just wanna add to the chorus of people who are letting you know that you&apos;re a badass. You&apos;re a badass science communicator, you&apos;re a badass scholar, you&apos;re a badass person. Sure, you&apos;ve got imperfections, you&apos;ve made mistakes, but the same is true for everyone. Scientists are not exempt from being regular people. And at least you&apos;re modeling the epistemic humility that we need more of in science, which is sadly a very uncommon occurrence within the hallowed halls of the ivory tower.<br><br>Thank you for what you&apos;ve done so far, and thank you for what you will continue to do. Your videos have legitimately been inspirational to me in my own research.

  Edit: Before I get into my comment proper I want say that if you want sources about Jews in the Arab world maybe read &quot;The Jewelers of the Ummah&quot; by Ariella Aïsha Azoulay.<br><br>That comment from the queer Israeli lady, who is mentioning her queerness to try and shield her from critique, made me so angry because these points come from a disingenuous place. <br><br>First of all, Jews can have a cultural connection to that land all they want but that does not give Zionists the right to set up an apartheid, judeo-supremacist state on the land and genocide and ethnically cleanse the people who live there. Like the conflict isn&apos;t because two &quot;nationalistic identities&quot; just happen to spontaneously exist close to each other. The conflict is because one nationalistic identity can only exist through the genocide of another. If you endorse the Zionist Project you endorse Jewish supremacy end of and you are not allowed to call yourself a Marxist in any sense after that. <br><br>Also even if nativity to a land is significant to a person, so what? That person can then enforce their idea for a state on everyone who already lives there? <br><br>I also challenge the idea that Mizrahi Jews (btw the Mizrahi-Ashkinazi distinction is a European/Zionist one, a way for European Zionists to stay racist towards other Jews) faced &quot;extreme&quot; racism, especially compared to Europe. The deterioration of Jewish-non-Jewish relationship in the Arab world is a direct consequence of the Zionist colonial project because if you claim to speak for all Jews in your project of colonization don&apos;t be surprised when the colonized people believe you. By the way the state of inflamed tensions was stoked and intentionally worsened by the Zionist movement in order to force Jewish immigration, see the credible Mossad involvement in the 1950-1951 Baghdad Bombings (and before someone says Israel doesn&apos;t do civilian bombings read up on the Lavon Affair). <br><br>The mention of discrimination of Jews even before 1948, the founding of Israel is also very disingenuous because the Zionist Project is decades older than the founding of the Zionist entity.
