1984, I was working inside the bicycle industry for the Japan Group traveling from LA to Japan almost every month. When I was in Japan the president (Marui san) was compelled that I was to be given special attention and was given a special gift every visit. Knowing I was a Jazz fan I was gifted a portable CD player. Mind you CD players just came out and cost about $300 and CDs were about $30 each and were extremely difficult to find! In Japan they were even more expensive.
That weekend they took me to Osaka's electronic street to purchase some CDs. I was kind of embarrassed when they insisted I purchase as many CDs as I wanted. When we got to that special record store "There It Was", an Oscar Peterson CD..!!! I was in Cloud-9 as I told my assistant that was all I wanted. My flight back home was a sheer delight listening to that special Oscar Peterson CD, which I still have.

this song reminded me of being a small coffee bean in Ethiopia in the the summer of 1997, later to be shipped, processed, and served as a finished product to a guy in a cafe in Copenhagen in December of 1998.

With so much AI generated music on YouTube, it's so refreshing to hear real musicians, and true legends like fellow Canadian Oscar Peterson performing

This song reminded me of my first cup of coffee with my wife. We met outside a cafe in Copenhagen sometime in 1998, maybe December.

Jesus, I had forgotten just how remarkable this great man was.. I saw him live I think the same year as this and was transfixed.. then I got to spend a bit of time with him one afternoon while I was on contract in Hong Kong.. a beautiful human being, and we were blessed by his presence..

One of the trio’s best live-gigs. The Japanese are dedicated jazz followers, as you can hear folks. Superb swingin’ stuff that makes you feel alive. So enjoy the ride, G’day & Cheers!

This song reminded me of the last time I saw my exhusband. I found him with his secretary in that small Caffè in Copenhague in 1998.
