Rick Rude sold the Atomic Drop like his kidneys exploded out of his ass. Loved it.

Vince said he couldn't afford Bret towards the end of 1997 but paid Tyson 3.5m for his WM14 appearance a few months later. Its clear Vince wanted Bret out and wanted to take the company and product in another direction.

I'm just glad we were blessed to watch both Bret and Owen. Absolutely golden childhood memories and still amazing to watch to this day

Good to see you brought back the wrestler imitation gimmick.

You're right about Montreal. He had 2+ weeks left on his contract.

Raw was the next night in Ottawa, he could have lost there. He offered to drop it to Shamrock, Taker, Owen.

McMahon only became a heel for Austin because everyone wanted retribution for Bret.

Also, nobody remembers, the next night on Raw. Was the debut of DX

The best thumbnail there is, the best thumbnail there ever was, and the best thumbnail there ever will be.

I like to play as Bret in the WWE games. The character looks like Bret and does Bret's moves, but it doesn't move like Bret. There's just no one they can get for motion capture that moves the way Bret did. There's a crispness and a follow through that no one else has been able to mimic.

The Sharpshooter to Razor from laying down on the mat was a brilliant piece of storytelling. As in the build to the match at Rumble 93, and from the commentary by Bobby Heenan during the match, it was teased that Bret wouldn't be able to put Razor in the hold and turn him over because of how tall he was and in particular how big his legs were.

About three minutes before the actual finish, Bret tried to get the Sharpshooter on twice. First time, Razor was able to crawl on his back get to the ropes before Bret could even get his leg between Razor's.
Second time after he dragged Razor to the centre of the ring, Bret had wrapped the legs. But Razor avoided being turned over using his size, and grabbed Earl Hebner to knock him into Bret to cause the hold to be broken.
So Bret going for the Sharpshooter when they were in a position like that, where he made sure he could roll Razor over without him having a chance to use his size to stop it, was brilliantly done.

This should be required viewing for every up and coming wrestler today. Study the HELL out of Bret and how much attention he paid to every detail, moreso than worrying about getting your shit in.

Looking forward to watching the full episode.

Bret had the best pace ever. He always knew when to speed up, slow down, continue and finish the match.

Bret is always right. Genuinely the greatest wrestler in the history of the WWE. Austin, Rock, Hogan, Cena sold more merch and drove the company forward, but no one made wrestling look as real and lifted it to art form status like Bret.

Moreover, he appreciates his fans, was always considered one of the boys and got to knock out Vince. What isn't to love about him?
