Prof. Sue Black was at Aberdeen University the same time as me. She did a useful degree, I did an M.A. Hons - then a Post Grad. Nuff said. I love, love, love these ColdCase documentaries. These highly educated and experienced professionals do a fantastic and interesting job 😊😊😊

The #1 killer of men collected into the armies of past history is: disease. Men from isolated communities, coming together in encampments - were forced to share viruses, bacteria and parasites that they may have had little or no natural immunity for. It took centuries for professional militaries to recognize this reality and develop the science of Castrametation.

Fascinating investigation.  However any genealogist will tell you that half siblings were very common as so many women died in childbirth with the surviving infant raised by a women who often went on to be the step mother  & subsequently have children of her own.  This aspect was more to be expected than be a surprise!

It's absolutely amazing what can be discovered and proved with DNA . I love learning about true history.

My first thought was that the man with the fused hats and very muscular body carried his crippled friend through life. Haha. I am no genius. Hearing that people were really not treated that much differently if they were differentlyabled and were allowed to just sort of be themselves was weirdly heartwarming.

If it wasn't typhus, it was dysentery.
