I’m sorry, but Nick discovering racism through this movie is frying me.
“She’s talking about a colored bathroom?!”
“Did they live in separate areas?”
“They had separate hospitals?”
“Oh my god?! He just whacked her in the back of the head with a baton?!

Lord, OPEN THE SCHOOLS, please! 😭

I hate the movie ending because they don't tell you what happened to Aibileen. She goes to the newspaper office and reveals that she had been helping Skeeter with the cleaning columns, and the boss hires Aibileen to write the column herself, since Skeeter had quit and gone to NY. So Aibileen has a good job, not just walking off with no real future income.

Octavia (Minny) won the Oscar for this- supporting actress- nearly every woman in the cast has since won Oscars since.

Hilly's actress is so unbelievably talented becuase its rare that I hate a character as much as I hated her. Absolutely vile woman

Without fail, I sob every time watching that last scene of Aibileen walking away and Mae Mobley banging against the window screaming "Don't go Aibi!" Instant tears. And also Sissy Spacek laughing at 2 Slice Hilly! I love this movie!

I wish they went on to add the fact that Aibileen went on to write the Mrs. Merna responses for the newspapers; not only did she start writing with 'The Help', but she continues to :'3

Medgar Evers was the civil rights activist who was assassinated during this bus incident scene (1963).
