  Even the high school games can get intense, most high schools have large stadiums, marching bands, cheerleaders, mascots, some have play by play on the radio. &nbsp;I’ve seen some high school games televised on their local stations. &nbsp;We take football seriously

  UT-Austin (Longhorn) Doctoral Student, here! And it&apos;s interesting to see our sports culture through the eyes of people who did not grow up in Texas. As the saying goes, American football is a passion for the USA, but in Texas, football is a religion!<br>Hook &apos;em 🤘<br><br>PS: For a really good showtime, check out some of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities&apos; (HBCUs) band performances ( Prairie View A&amp;M, Texas Southern, Florida A&amp;M, Southern University...). You WILL NOT be disappointed!

  People don&apos;t always realize they&apos;re watching athletes when the band is on the field. They&apos;re just a different kind of athlete. They put alot of time into their craft.

  The confidence is part of the culture, because we are a meritocracy built on individualism. We celebrate accomplishment, because - in general - if you work hard here, that&apos;s how you advance. And everyone is encouraged to reach for the sky. As for all the stuff at the game - university athletic departments can work with budgets of hundreds of millions of dollars.
