  A major concern for Israel during the mid 60's was the Soviet military sales to the Arab countries. Egypt and Syria in particular had adquired a small number of Soviet build bombers (Tupolev Tu-16 and Ilyushin Il-28), these aircrafts had the payload capacity and the operational reach to hit any city or military base inside Israel. This was a key objective of the IAF during the first sorties of the air campaign.

  Rear Admiral Parry is a genius - he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the history of the area - bringing up Saladin was a very interesting link. Thank you Mr Hanson for some of the best content on YouTube.
