The incredible thing is that Princess Alice (Prince Philip's mother) was born congenitally deaf and she learnt too lip read in several languages and was a very intelligent and sensitive woman who founded a hospital in Greece in later years, it is heart breaking that Prince Philip lost his big sister in a tragic way. his father was a terrible person and this explains Prince Philip's devotion too family and duty throughout his life

She did become a nun, she lived at Buckingham Palace. She was born in Windsor Castle and died at Buckingham Palace.

Good Lord…giving birth as you die in a violently crash. How horrible. I have heard of Philip’s Royal Greece family. And I thought I heard his mother became a nun and died in poverty, which she chose. Such a chaotic life. Sometimes it is hard to keep the members Royal families of Europe straight, and to remember that they all seem to be related to one another at some level. King George of England and Czar Nicholas of Russia looked so much alike they could easily have been mistaken for twins. <br><br>There’s another Royal tragedy, the slaughter of the Royal Russian family. Of all the Royal children I’ve seen in photos from the first half of the 20th century, the son and daughters of Czar Nicholas and Alexandra were the loveliest. It blows my mind when I think that Nicholas had all those Royal relatives, many of whom were in the military or had military at their disposal, and not one of them did anything to try and stop what happed to that family. In the end, everyone pretty much looked after their own interests. Shameful.
