  There&apos;s something so beautiful and human about Mary&apos;s final letter to James. The voice actress actually crying makes it feel so genuine, it makes me emotional literally every time

  Even though SH2 is considered the best, I love SH3.<br><br>As an Angst Teenage Girl who kinda had to hide that I liked video games, especially Horror Games, because it just wasn&apos;t cool then. I related a lot to Heather, her fears of pregnancy... puberty, weird old man following you lol, extremely questionable fashion choices. She felt like a friend who would get me and I would love to hangout with.

  While Silent Hill 2 seems to be the more critically acclaimed game, and for good reason, I can&apos;t help myself but enjoy Silent Hill 3 more. <br><br>Cheryl Mason was just a poor teenager who had her life turned upside down because of these god-knows-what cultish adults. She goes through so much in Silent Hill only equipped with anger for her father&apos;s death. All the while, everything in this unknown place is new to her, she doesn&apos;t know how this place works; she can&apos;t even gauge how much danger she&apos;s in. Towards the end, all of the emotional turmoil catches up to her and she finally breaks down, calling out to her dad like a kid. But even after everything, she manages to joke around with Douglas and honors her father&apos;s given name. <br><br>I think I like SH3 more than the second one because it&apos;s so much easier to relate to Cheryl. Not everyone&apos;s gonna go Silent Hill crazy, but it&apos;s probably a universal experience to be shoved around physically/emotionally by adults who &quot;know more&quot; while us as teenagers were still processing how the world works. Seeing someone young being able to smile in the end after going through hell is a much more satisfying ending to me.

  I remember of playing Silent Hill 3 with friends in a local game store, we all with zero English learning, holding a dictionary, pausing the game every single time we needed to understand the dialogue, having our saves deleted many times, finally getting some clues about the story and HOLY CRAP IS THAT ALESSA?! and our world fell down when the freaking Vincent says: &quot;They look like monsters to you?&quot;.<br>Wait.<br>What...?<br>But they are... monsters, since the beginning...?<br>(Having a flash memory about SH2 and how James sees the town and the monsters)<br><br>We still are friends since then and we all share the same feeling about this particular scene: Trauma for a whole life.<br><br>Thank you so much for sharing the video and your thoughts!! It&apos;s so awesome to watch the (confusing) lore of this entire franchise I love so much. Abraços do Brasil!

  I&apos;ve just finished a walkthrough of SH2 and I have to mention the moral standpoint of James in SH2 because some people confused explanation with justification when it comes to his actions.<br><br>James killed Mary. I know some aspects of the story will make it seem like it was a form of euthanasia or &quot;mercy-killing&quot; because Mary herself said she wanted her suffering to end and James did it because &quot;he loved her so much&quot;. Mary herself didn&apos;t actually want to die, she just wanted to be cured. But her deep resentment at herself and frustrations towards her illness made her mind unstable, which leads to saying hurtful things about James and herself. It was a contorted mixture of strong emotions speaking for her (That&apos;s why she says one thing and then says the opposite afterwards). When people do this, their loved ones still stay by their side, being ready to forgive them. Because they understand the pain that this person is going through.<br><br>People who usually requested for euthanasia have to be in a calmer state and always discuss with their loved ones furthermore about their decision to not be &quot;saved&quot;. There has to be consistent agreement from the patient, even in their final moments. Mary wasn&apos;t given that. James just went to her room and slowly suffocated her, it wasn&apos;t even a quick death. He never gave her a choice. He&apos;s guilty because not because he killed Mary &quot;out of love&quot;, it&apos;s because he killed her out of resentment.
