ESPN Just Hit the Lakers With a SHOCKING Ranking

ESPN just released their annual Future Power Rankings, and the Los Angeles Lakers landed at a surprisingly low number 13 overall, projecting where all 30 teams stand over the next three seasons. In this video we break down exactly why, starting with the good news, the Lakers actually ranked 7th in the Players category thanks to Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, Walker Kessler, and this summer's new additions. Then we dig into the real problem, a 29th place finish in Draft and 22nd in Money, and explain the trade off Rob Pelinka made by spending the Lakers' future flexibility to build a win now roster around Luka's prime. We cover why Walker Kessler could completely change this outlook, how much more offensive versatility this roster has with Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Cameron Carr, and Adou Thiero, and why Luka already being an established franchise cornerstone separates the Lakers from teams still searching for their superstar. Finally, we compare LA's ranking to the rest of the Western Conference, including Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Houston, Minnesota, Denver, Dallas, and Golden State, and give our final verdict on whether Rob Pelinka actually got this offseason right.
