I hate the worms that eat Greenland Sharks' eyes! They probably were around with dinos too.

The only fun fact about parasites is they also have their own parasites, but tbh I'd rather just not have any parasites than the cold comfort of knowing they have their own blood suckers taking from them too

Big parasites did not disappear though. They became social and organized into what we now call governments.

We still have parasitoid wasps. They just don't have the trap-like abdomen. Though you alluded to the parasitoid wasps targeting dinosaurs and mammals, which is not true. Those wasps have always targeted insects and they still target insects to this day. They have never, and do not target mammals or reptiles or anything but highly specific insects. Each parasitoid wasp is very selective.

You're also making it sound like evolution happens rapidly, but it takes millions of years. We still have fleas with drill mouths. The bubonic plague was spread by the common flea. It was spread by rats with fleas on the rats. The common flea is still in the modern era.

Your video is informative, but it has language in it that will definitely make people fearful. Which they have nothing to fear. Especially with modern medicine and insecticides to kill ticks, fleas and mosquitoes and all the microscopic parasites they may carry. Especially in first world countries.

As you mentioned "they died because their hosts died" smaller and less destructive parasites giving their hosts more chance of survival, thus living with them as much as they can, otherwise they had to swap for a new host or die with that host, ending their own lifecycle.

Technically viruses are the earliest known parasites

3:21 there’s a phrase attributed to E. O. Wilson that parasites are “predators that consume prey in units of less than one,” which I think is apt and uncomfortable:
