  You know, it's fascinating to hear this when a friend of mine literally just CREATED FROM SCRATCH a local scene in his city, simply because people weren't playing the games he wanted to play at his locals. And it worked! Now every week they get together to play SNK games when there weren't any before, and he's already got like 15 people going there. And it's not like he is some big figurehead or anything, just a guy really passionate about fighting games. In a sense he has inspired me, and I want to do something similar. My country has no locals, like at all, and I am planning on trying to get that started. Don't have the money, nor any idea of how to do so, but I HAVE to try. Because in the end, the C in FGC stands for community, and I think it is the lifeblood of what makes this genre and its players at large so special. I think the online era has made people forget that, and with big corporations trying to prey on it, but having each other I think is the most important now. You need two to play after all. So the idea of trying to build the community, resonates me quite so

  There's a guy who makes youtube videos about the VERY small Ultimate Chicken Horse community. Each video highlights competitive rules, mechanics, players, storylines and history. So few people played that game, but the views are only increasing and the player base is expanding a ton every day. TNS brought UMvC3 back into the fold in a huge way just by consistently showing their passion for it and hosting weeklies. A fuck ton of people still compete in Melee and that title is from several console generations ago. GuileWinQuote makes videos about incredibly niche fighting games and gets hundreds of thousands of views because he's passionate and accessible in his presentation. You either make the wave or get swept up by the tide. If all you do is complain about how xyz is trash instead of lifting up the games you love and want to play, you're just contributing to the idea that the game is destined to fail. You're self-fulfilling the prophecy. Majin is 100% correct.
