  The way that the bacteria operates is pretty much a complex system. But it&apos;s not intelligent or sentient. It&apos;s just trying to seek food. <br><br>Which reminds me a lot of how the Complex itself operates. Whatever it&apos;s goal is, it seems very simplistic, but intelligent in a weird uncanny valley way.

  CO2!<br><br>That explains how Madison, Kane, and Ravi were tracked so well, despite maze-like hallways, and were always in danger of their respective monsters getting them..<br>And yet Marvin encounters his &quot;friend&quot;, shits himself falling down, and runs out a door, and down what is effectively a straight-shot corridor to the hole he fell out of, lugging that hazmat suit (which can&apos;t be light), and all the while no life-form was ever upon him. Sure, it was loud, but it never actually attacked him. &nbsp;<br>Marvin even had to sit in that upper shelf of that hole until the others could hoist him out, and all that time nothing... That was not a difficult amount of space to navigate, but &quot;Marvin&apos;s Friend&quot; never appeared again.... Because he was wearing that Hazmat Suit!<br><br>The others were immediately found and followed because they would exhale CO2 while running, as well as standing/exploring, so that must be the only mechanism by which these eyeless creatures can navigate so effectively, they smell the CO2 people exhale.<br><br>EDIT:<br>AND THAT&apos;S WHY YOU HAVE TO STAY STILL AND NOT MOVE! YOU MUST HOLD YOUR BREATH AND NOT MAKE A SOUND IN ORDER TO AVOID IT HUNTING YOU!<br>They may have a rudimentary sight organ that only responds to movement, so not moving and not breathing would technically work.

  I find it horrifying that that the lifeforms only thoughts, survival instincts and only means of survival are nutrients. <br>And that the only way to obtain them are from humans. <br>So they evolved to mimic their voices so they could attract other humans.<br>The theory about bacteria building up in peoples chests being the reason for all the coughing makes so much sense now with that one message from the autopsy report TV &quot;this environment was never suited for mankind&quot;<br>Even Peter experienced the coughing while wearing the hazmat gear. No one is safe

  I love the idea of the Lifeforms just being beyond our understanding. The autopsy report says “it’s more like a mutated strain of simple hay bacillus”. Async are comparing them to what we know on our world, on our understanding. The structure of the Bacteria sample is closest to that on our world. The complex breaks all that we know is possible in terms of science, seemingly unlimited energy. Possibly infinite space and interacts with the physical world.<br><br>Async and us, the viewer will most likely never ever truly understand the Lifeforms. And I absolutely love that, it’s perfect cosmic horror. I really hope we get to see Lifeforms again sometime, they’re super cool.

  I have a slightly different theory about why life forms can create sounds. As far as I remember, in the &quot;autopsy report&quot; we were also told that the hay bacillus preserved some organs. So in fact, the hay bacillus used these organs, including the organs of the pharynx and vocal cords. And since the bacterium learns from all kinds of sources, it knows how to lure people, it is also possible that the hay bacillus could take information from the victim&apos;s brain, but this is unlikely.

  I like the theory that whatever eldritch horror created/maintained the backrooms; it&apos;s so unfathomably alien to us that it can&apos;t distinguish between bacterial life &amp; our own in terms of sentience. &nbsp;Our bodies contain billions of bacteria at any given time, so it wouldn&apos;t be that far of a stretch for some other worldly intelligence to somehow interpret &apos;humans&apos; as nothing more than vehicles for whole colonies of bacteria. &nbsp;Meat mobiles for tiny biotic drivers. &nbsp;And when those meat mobiles break down, said alien is trying to keep it running for the sake of the bacteria which it thinks it&apos;s helping.

  I should note that the backrooms video &quot;home_27647&quot; shows the house where the bacteria creature was living. the number &quot;27647&quot; refers to Alkalihalobacillus alcalophilus (very similar to hay bacillus). which I assume is where the bacteria evolved from

  It’s worth noting a few things about biofilms just in case they become relevant in the future.<br><br>Firstly, the kind of signalling that usually initiates the transition of a bacteria from prioritising infection and propagation to biofilm production is called “quorum sensing / signalling”, which is signalling related to the quantity of bacteria present. Quorum is also the number of politicians that need to be present for a vote to take place.<br><br>Secondly, the transition of a bacteria from prioritising infection / propagation to biofilm production is generally a very significant change in function, and biofilms carry a whole swathe of benefits for long-term survival of a bacteria once it has grown its population sufficiently and is more likely to maintain its population by surviving attacks from an immune system rather than producing more to replace dead bacteria. Two important common functions of biofilms: avoiding detection by the immune system full-stop by hiding telltale antigens inside the biofilm, and being better able to resist attack from immune cells and produce counterattacks.<br><br>It may be nothing, but I was fascinated by the way a movement of a bacteria from propagation to biofilm production was made to be this great rubicon in microbiology when I was in uni.

  I notice that while the backrooms seem nearly infinite, there&apos;s only human and plant life being teleported inside, despite the abundance of other animals like rodents in standard. The null zones are specific about what they teleport into the backrooms
