  If you use a paper log as well to train yourself, make sure to write “training purposes only” on top AND the bottom. I was told that by DOT

  This rule has been in effect for a long time-its not a new law, but was useful back when we had paper logs and the total 8 hour break before we could drive  another 10. Back then we could drive 16 hours in a 24 hour period. Mark does a good job of explaining it here.

  Me, myself, and I just do the 10 hour break. &nbsp;Simple and hassle free. &nbsp;Even tho, I do realize a lot of Drivers and Companies rely on the Split Berth to ensure delivery deadlines and such things as Relay Points (KLLM does frequently). &nbsp;Myself, I have no need or use for the split berth in the particular delivery field I am now doing. &nbsp;Multi Stops (7-12 stops-two day period) in Daylight Hours only.<br><br>But, more power for those that use it on a daily basis!

  I swear the FMCSA desk sitting paper pushers who have never driven a truck TRIED AS HARD AS THEY COULD to make these regulations as confusing and hard to understand and comply with as they could. Yet their families all rely on what we bring to market.

  On duty &nbsp;a lot, but not driving... because we are stuck at the warehouse waiting to get our load! Stuck at US FOODS for 8 hours!
