John Danaher is a fascinating person to listen to, not to mention a true gentleman. Love Lex’s exchanges with him and I look forward to many more.

It’s funny how mma coaches say “there’s no way my fighter can get finished.” This is usually bravado bullshit. But when Danaher says “there’s no way Gordon can get finished” it’s the unequivocal truth.

What a love about BJJ, apart from MMA or striking sports, is that there's no puncher's chance. In MMA or striking, there's always a puncher's chance. No boxer, or MMA fighter, should underestimate their opponent too much. One slip up and you'll get Buster Douglas'ed. But in BJJ, assuming things are being taken seriously, the less skilled grappler basically can't win. That's what John was essentially saying here. Gordon Ryan couldn't lose, Andre's defeat was impending, inevitably.

One of my absolute favorite things that Danaher does in interviews is when he is asked a question and then asks for the question to be made more specific and clear. I'm not sure why... And it also just seems like something I never see anyone else do.

Lex, you literally fast-forwarded all the best parts of the match. Thanks for that :D. I was curious to hear Johns thoughts on the 1-2 min prior to Gordon trapping his arm from the back.
