That little green round piece that covers the holes (4 total) are the proper lifting points. Flip them to the side and push a round stock or pipe thru it. Use your lifting straps on the bars and the weight will be distributed properly.

Thanks for the video. I'm researching for my first lathes and grizzly is at the top of my list. Probably will get this one because of this video.

That drive pulley, if used with flat belts, should have a crown on it to help center the belt.

1:21:17 Sometimes this can be caused by the cross-slide leadscrew nut. Might need a little adjustment.

I'm going to Springfield Missouri to purchase a lathe this summer. Going to pick it up myself. The engineers that design any heavy equipment should provide lift points that can be hooked into and lifted by an overhead crane. The engineers are the ones that know where a machine's center of gravity is and thus the best place to locate lift points.

My lathe, an old Harrison M300, specified lifting to be done with 2 slings around the cast iron bed - much the same way you lifted yours.
Admittedly, mine didn't have a DRO scale fitted.

Higher RPM's and slower travel speed will contribute to a smoother finish. When cutting chips with a lathe one is always basically cutting threads. The more microscopic you can make those threads the smoother the finish will be.
