I met Eugene and Carolyn Shoemaker in 1991, during the Total Solar Eclipse in Hawaii. I rode into Kailua Kona with a bike and a tent after the Eclipse, befriended a beautiful astronomy grad student and sat down with them at a beach cafe. I had no idea who they were and was incredibly astonished. Gene described himself as a Planetary Geologist. That's really cool! Later they invited me to the top of Mauna Kea Observatory. Absolutely amazing! Such wonderful people!

Excellent video.I find the Grand Tack Hypothesis particularly intriguing. The Grand Tack hypothesis proposes that Jupiter migrated inwards and hurled some objects from the asteroid belt at the inner planets including Earth but also corralling others into the Asteroid Belt and denying Mars the material it should have had to make it bigger, all before Saturn pulled it out again. It also postulates why there are many "Hot Jupiters" being found elsewhere: they had no Saturn to pull them back out. I would enjoy seeing your production of that hypothesis.

Sometimes it helps and sometimes it deflects it right at us. That’s the way it works.

The celestial object that will annihilate all living organisms on Earth is already out there.
It is patiently waiting for the gentle nudge the gravity of another far-off massive object gives it to send it our way.
Hopefully by that time we would have the technology to avoid that disaster.
Meanwhile we are little more than smarter apes arguing over nothing of real importance.
