  It would seem I am repeating myself over and over again. <br><br>I was sent the design and built the antenna, I did not design the antenna. This is an antenna for local QSO&apos;s and due to the size is probably very inefficient HOWEVER it offers people an opportunity to get onto HF when they would not be able to do so due to HOA or other restrictions.

  This is a shortened, base fed, end fed HF vertical that uses helical loading plus a 1:9 unun, used as a multiband “random wire” style antenna with a tuner rather than a resonant single band antenna. &nbsp; Efficiency on the lowest band it covers will be modest to poor, because most of the RF current is forced into the loading coils where it is turned into heat instead of radiation, especially when a lot of inductance is at the base or lower part of the vertical. &nbsp;On higher bands where the total wire length approaches a quarter wavelength or more, efficiency improves and performance can be similar to other short vertical or random wire systems using a 1:9 unun, often radiating only a fraction of input power on the lowest band but doing reasonably on mid and high HF

  Hey interesting build. A number of Debbie Downers here dissing your effort and sharing your experience. While it maybe inefficient on the lower bands it will be fun to experiment with. It&apos;s basically an end fed randomwire. I think I&apos;ll try one eliminating the bottom 3 turns and add a couple feet whip at the top, maybe a telescoping antenna for swr adjustibility. It should help dissapate the High Voltage at the top of the antenna.

  Last year, I found the article that your link takes one to called, Making Waves – A DIY HF Antenna for the smallest spaces. I shared that article with a few fellow ham operators in the club I am with. I started bulding it last year. Now, I see in your video that the 4:1 UNUN is replaced with a 9:1. I just built a 9:1 for an EFRW antenna. So i can use that one or build another for this. I&apos;m excited to go back to this antenna and finish it off. The video is quite helpful.   Thanks for your video - Tried this on my IC-7300 - and made a couple of local 40m contacts, with one being about 85 miles away, and also made decent contacts on 10m across Europe from here in the UK - I also found this very good as a multi band receiving antenna with good signal to noise ratio… i tried it on my Lowe HF-150 receiver and used a manual tuner to receive the loudest and clearest audio. &nbsp;the manual tuner i use is the MFJ-974HB, because i have one in the shack, but any cheap manual tuner would do the job for receiving purposes! &nbsp;Thanks for taking the time to make the video - much appreciated! &nbsp;👍

  A blob of glue from a hot melt glue gun to hold the turns in place would make life easier.

  love how people are dissing this antenna. clearly not paying attention! yes it is not much more than a leaky dummy load on lower bands that isn&apos;t the point. what is can do is provide a last resort for ops that for whatever reason cannot erect a more &quot;normal&quot; antenna at minimal cost. and my be of some use for remote portable in places where it&apos;s not practical to take or use long wires. and it may be useful as a wide band receive antenna.
