  I’m a clinical psychologist so I’ve met with patients who are requesting an ADHD and/or ASD (autism spectrum disorder) evaluation. Cool, that’s totally fine. I’m glad they’re seeking a professional evaluation, BUT some of these people say they saw a TikTok and think they have it, and that’s it. There’s no changing their mind, and if (honestly, usually WHEN) they find out the assessment report says they do not meet criteria for the diagnosis, they get angry and nasty and insult the psychologist, saying they don’t know anything. It’s infuriating. Please do not be this person. And please treat your healthcare providers with kindness and respect. At the end of the day, we’re still people and deserve some common decency.

  In a medical subreddit, a family medicine doctor said he had seen a flurry of patients who suspected they had lipidema. He thought it was strange that an ailment he knew/heard little about was suddenly trending. He wondered if there had been a lot of press on the subject recently. Just thought it was interesting - this was about a month ago.

  I have lipedema! Only speaking from personal experience 5 years after stage 2 diagnosis…. 1. Most of my fat was NOT lipedema. Lost 70 lbs with diet and workouts and feeling much better. 2. The goal is to avoid surgery. 3. If you have this disease and your goal is longevity and mobility, you have to work on keeping excess fat off for the rest of your life.

  People who over share on social media get mad when people have opinions about their tea. Make it make sense. People really need to use a diary. But they enjoy the feedback

  Maybe she does have lipedema. But I hate to tell her that some people just carry weight in certain parts of their body and it's the last place they lose. Also, that extra weight can be heavy and cause pain. Shocking I know.

  The lipedema subreddit shocked me - so many normal bodies with normal cellulite or fat distribution are posting their bodies talking about their lipedema. Occasionally, someone will post who clearly has it but it’s not the norm, the norm is people without it convinced they do. It was wild to me and also sad
