  Did anyone notice that in the end the guy tried to say something rude again, and the lady coughed loudly and knocked him with her elbow to warn him. Literally such an immature idiot! If she is his girlfriend I seriously hope that she will find a better guy soon...Deeply ashamed that people like this are embarrassing my country!

  Maybe a child would say it bluntly but for an adult to speak like that is definitely rude and disrespectful. Good job calling it out and the vendor was so sweet and put it perfectly standing up for you!❤

  I did that in French on a subway once- we were American tourists getting trash talked basically for being tourists. &nbsp;I turned around and &nbsp;told them (in French) &quot;You shouldn&apos;t assume that just because we are speaking English that we can&apos;t speak French. &nbsp;We are excited to be in your country-please let us enjoy our day&quot; &nbsp;The lady had the nerve to pretend she wasn&apos;t talking about us but a couple of people on the Metro smiled at us when they got off and told us to enjoy our trip

  He didn’t apologize. He looks like he lives under a rock. Glad that vendor made that egg more expensive. I’ve come to know many Chinese are very hospitable. Especially those who work hard for their earnings. Very humble people.

We usually say things like “you’re so tall”, “you look fit and muscular” or “you have fair skin” as genuine compliments to show admiration. Calling someone dark-skinned isn’t intended as an insult in daily Chinese conversations for most people, as dark skin isn’t viewed as a flaw in their mind.<br> <br>Of course, I fully respect your feeling of being offended, and your discomfort is completely valid given your own cultural background and historical context around race and skin colour. The gentleman had no malicious intent or racist thoughts at all; he was only speaking based on his native social custom. Once the woman beside noticed you felt upset, she subtly reminded him to stop the topic right away.<br> <br>Cultural misunderstandings happen all the time across different regions, and open communication is the best way to bridge these gaps. Wish you a wonderful stay in China!
