The video is very wrong at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvVRGLUfWjc&t=87">1:27</a>. The universe with Lambda = 0 does <i>not</i> have to fall in on itself at all. For a homogeneous isotropic universe, there are three kinds of solutions of Einstein's equation. One, the elliptic, does collapse -- this is called a closed universe. The other two kinds of solution expand forever. [These are hyperbolic solutions (open universes) and the borderline case (flat universe), parabolic solution, which expands at a rate that approaches zero.] The problem isn't that the universe must collapse, but that it can't stand still, as it appeared to and was supposed to. Of course, this is all based on a homogeneous isotropic model, which represents a fraction zero of possible models, and is objectively inaccurate. It is believed to be an adequate approximation, but general theorems about expansion are har to prove, given the nonlinearity of the equations.
