A unitless number is not unusual, it is a coefficient, such as coefficient of friction, Reynolds number and others. Are so many seemingly unusual mathematical puzzles the result of our base 10 system? Our numbering system is a useful shorthand for communicating ideas to each other. The universe is under no obligation to conform to our methodology, it is us and our methodology that must conform to it....
