Suicide by hitting yourself TWICE IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD seems rather unlikely.

I agree with Cecil theory personally. He did not want Elizabeth married to Dudley and a suspicious death of his wife definitely ended that prospect.

Could it be that she had no children because her husband was never home.

You would not choose to commit suicide by throwing yourself down 8 steps, after bludgeoning yourself. And the forensic psych is reasoning with the thinking of today! In the 1500's, history shows, murder around the crown would have been normal!

I am bothered by those two dents, knowing something about how such an injury could have happened makes me think that she was hit then pushed down the stairs. We will never know, but that is my theory.

Still doesn’t prove how she got two huge dents in the back of her head.

when I read about falling down the stairs I had imagined it was some grand staircase from some extreme height of several flights and possible marble staircase….can you even really “fall” down 8 stairs! i think it would be hard to die from even purposely throwing yourself down only 8 stairs. 😮

    How about this hypothesis?
Amy knew she was terminally ill and probably was tired of suffering. And, she knew her husband was involved with another woman. The Queen no less so there really wasn't much she could do EXCEPT Cecil also didn't want the Queen to marry Dudley either. So, one or the other contacted the other and they conspired her "murder". That's why she allowed all the servants to go to the fair. Amy was knocked unconscious or even killed by the blows to the back of her head so she wouldn't experience the pain of being thrown down the stairs.
So, ended her suffering from the illness and she got revenge on her husband's betrayal, and Cecil prevented Dudley and the Queen marrying.
