  Seriously, you have to watch the famous Schwartzkof press interview from the gulf war. It&apos;s not gonna be as funny, and it&apos;s long, but it is the single greatest televised interview with a theater general in history, with the when how&apos;s and why&apos;s of modern military strategy spoon fed to you, and you&apos;ll be glued to it and learn a lot about stormin Norman.

  Stormin&apos; Norman was a younger officer during Vietnam, which was a shitshow based on constantly shifting goals, unclear strategies, and politicians screwing things over. &quot;Are we here to defeat the Communist guerillas? Are we fighting the North Vietnamese? Are we just staying in South Vietnam and letting both the Communist guerillas AND the North Vietnamese endlessly attack us as we play defense? Are we going on offense at all?&quot;<br><br>So he and his highest ranking officers basically went &quot;We go in, do the thing, and get out! ASAP!&quot; And that&apos;s why he&apos;s Stormin&apos; Norman and why Desert Storm was so quick and so thorough.

  I was in this theater of operations as demolitions under command of &quot;Stormin&apos; Norman&quot;. We were given orders to clear a &quot;path&quot; for the armored divisions. By &quot;clear a path&quot;, I mean to remove ANYTHING in a direct line from Point A to Point B. Buildings, walls, rocks, hills, etc. Which wasn&apos;t really a problem until one looked at the timetable we were given. After asking if that was the right timetable and not a typo, we scrabbled to grab gear and get moving. To say the timing was &quot;tight&quot; would be an understatement. At times we could see the dust plumes of the advancing division, just as we were setting off charges. Only to jump into ready vehicles and race to the next site. It was a harrowing time, with sleep being replaced by coffee.

  Guy waffling on in the corner, I grew up during Desert Storm, and General Schwarzkopf was an absolute fucking legend. You should absolutely look into his career, absolutely insane.
