  My grandfather served two tours in Korea. When he passed he was cremated and laid to rest in a military cemetery with one specific request. His tomb is always facing the sunlight, he never wanted to be as cold as he was in Korea. Rest in peace.

  When US Army troops begin singing the Marine Hymn, you know you've reached a whole new level of being a badass. As a retired USAF maintainer, I will never get tired of teasing my family members and friends who are Marines but when it comes down to it in the end I thank god for the Marines. Semper Fi Marines.

  The Chosin Few is the title those men earned. We learned all of this during USMC boot camp. Brings tears of pride to every Marine in the USA.

  To put the temperature into perspective, the temperature at the time of the battle of the bulge was somewhere between 20°F(-7C) to 0°F(-18C). The Chosen Reservoir was -36F(-38C) with some veterans reporting that it felt closer to -54F(-48C). This is certified artic warfare.

  I met a veteran of Chosin once. &nbsp;He was both happy and surprised I knew of it. &nbsp;I told him that all Marines are taught about that battle, and they are heroes in the minds of all Marines that came after.

  The United Kingdom was involved in the Korean War between 25 June 1950 and 27 July 1953. 56,000 British troops participated on the side of the United Nations force. <br> <br>For the war the United Kingdom provided the second largest force behind the United States. For deployment, the Royal Navy arrived on 1 July 1950 whilst the British Army arrived on 28 August. During the war 1,078 soldiers were killed. <br> <br>After the war some British troops remained as military observers until 1957.

  I spoke to one of the Frozen Chosin in boot camp. He told us those tootsie rolls saved a lot of fuckin lives. Their rations were frozen so solid they took so long to eat that during the fight and the long retreat dudes couldnt get the calories to keep their strength, but those tootsie rolles were easy enough to eat and had the calories needed to keep em going. <br><br>He also told me &nbsp;he woke up in the hospital among rows and rows of soldiers who lost their feet or legs to frostbite because the cold weather boots made their feet sweat so they froze into basically blocks of ice when they cooled down. But he kept his feet because as miserable as it was he never got cold weather boots, so his feet froze but they didnt freeze solid. He told me he was literally watching them prep anesthesia and saws for his feet when the doctor ran over yelling and hollering wait we can save his stop stop. <br><br>Thought about that for a long
