I'm female, 70, I still weight train bodybuilding style and getting into calesthetics. I just started my hanging journey. It's really helping my shoulder impingement. I'm at 95 seconds! usually my first hang. the other sets are usually 75...lol I'm getting there...I can do pullups, any width, while LHanging...just bragging. Smilz from Denver.

The dead hand cured my shoulder impingement. I highly recommend it for upper body stretch before and after workouts.

Two caveats on this video if I may, Nearly all such videos don't mention body weight for some strange reason but it comes into play of course; And the other thing is not to jump up if the bar is too high like in the video, especially if you are new to hanging. Use a raised platform instead to get up there. Otherwise the "shock" of the sudden hang can be too much and you"ll get a muscle tear

I,m 61 and can dead hang for 3 minutes. However a friend of mine recommended doing 6 x 1 minute throughout instead. Been doing it for a few month and the results are amazing.

Dead hangs are great Longevity medicine. I'm 63 can DH for 2:15 with long arms (height 6'4" wing span 6'8") truly restores shoulders & back IMO

That line about your brain quitting at 40 to 50 percent is so real. Great reminder that resilience is trained, not found.

79 here. Busted my shoulder 3 years back and got lazy. Finally, last Fall I gave up on med pros, and following a couple of videos by Jeff Cavaliere of AthleanX, managed to solve it by myself. Been 3 months since I eased myself back to gym. First week, my dead hang was just 10-15 secs. Today, I can do 100 secs easy. It's all about the grip strength it seems.

I am 71 and started dead hanging a few months ago. It was to help stretch out a damaged shoulder rotator cuff. After a few weeks I started using it for building abdominals by pulling knees to chest. I usually only do two or three thirty second sets before my shoulder complains, but my grip and abdominal strength is improving rapidly. I will use this video to help vary my routine. Thank you.
