  I will literally never understand this mindset. <br>&gt;Have a billion dollar cruiser <br>&gt;Hire the literally cheapest, least experienced mfs you can grab off the shore<br><br>&gt;Build a billion dollar skyscraper <br>&gt;Hire the cheapest, shadiest, most corrupt construction company you can find.<br><br>And then act surprised when it turns to shit.

  And believe it or not, this isn&apos;t even the worst case of an incompetent captain and staff causing a major peacetime maritime disaster. Not by a country mile. That honor goes to the tragedy of the ferry MV Sewol in South Korea.

  If you ever hear over the speakers to not panic and to go back to your room, DONT. That is exactly what happened to the ferry in South Korea called the MV Sewol. They told all the students over the speakers to go back to their cabins and everything was under control, while they knew for a fact that the ship was sinking and they themselves were abandoning the ship. The students were taught to always trust authority and follow orders so they did exactly that and sadly that sealed their fates of going down with the ship. The real sad part was all the students sending text messages and videos to their families while it was going down and not knowing they were all about to perish due to these terrible people in charge.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze9GYk39FEE&amp;t=410">6:50</a> this was explained to me by someone who knows how this works. &nbsp;APPARENTLY when they go through training to be the captain of a vessel there isn&apos;t always an open position. So what they do is they take on other roles until a position opens up. The captain most likely had all the proper training needed and was just head of security as a temporary Job until a captain position opened up. <b>inhale</b> now what needs to be explained is how someone who was head of security could perform so poorly under pressure. I.e going into denial and panic once they started taking on water.

  There is a navigation officer by the name of SailorVince who reacted to this video and offered a unique perspective of the events due to having served aboard ships.<br>One is the obvious fact of &quot;People who passed the qualifications of being a captain are usually placed in other positions until a vacancy is made available.&quot; He also discusses the procedures of operating a ship that size, which the Costa Concordia bridge crew were obviously not doing due to incompetence or complacency.<br>Also, he commented on Cemortan&apos;s post-testimony interview, saying &quot;And I thought my English was bad.&quot;<br>I highly recommend watching it, as his perspective of events as a naval officer is really engaging.<br><br>Also, at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze9GYk39FEE&amp;t=5041">1:24:01</a>, the title of that book in English means &quot;The Submersed Truth.&quot; Talk about terrible phrasing. This P.O.S. couldn&apos;t stop being disrespectful to those who died, just as he can&apos;t stop taking it out of his pants.

  You should also know this: the bottles used to break on the ships christening are made of hardened sugar glass. Sugar glass bottles.....some say they maintain still the tradition as a form of &quot;exam&quot; on the crew to see if they actually can’t even manage to break a damn sugar glass bottle full of pressurized champagne

  there’s a reason ‘eyeballing’ it is also called ‘dead reckoning.’ &nbsp;Though as a captain on much smaller craft I can tell you that while eyeballing it is common during the day only an idiot relies solely on that at night when distances on the ocean cannot be judged without an unbelievable amount of firsthand experience in the area
