  Boxing promoter, Don King from Cleveland Ohio, ran gambling racket for mob. Somehow skated two murder convictions, then went on to promote Mike Tyson.

  The Debartolo family was from Youngstown.  Owned the 49ers and were rumored to be connected.  Never charged with anything, though.

  The founders of Warner Brothers studios lived in Youngstown Ohio before moving on to Hollywood. Interesting how embedded the mob was with Hollywood and their unions.

  Little Italy, just outside of University Circle, in Cleveland, was known as the safest part of town, even though it butted up against the most dangerous neighborhood, East Cleveland. There were guys on every corner, both on Mayfield, and blocks away. There were gentlemen on the sidewalk, and at the door of every restaurant. They told you to just park wherever, if you were eating there. They would find you if your car needed to move. The cops didn&apos;t bug anyone.<br>If you ever ate at Mama Santa&apos;s or Guarino&apos;s, or anywhere else in Little Italy, you noticed that none of the front doors to any of those establishments opened directly into the restaurants, but into a wall, and the back doors were secure. There were no windows looking out onto Mayfield. It was peculiar, and special, and the food at all of those restaurants was absolutely delicious.

  Iʼm 62 now and remember when I was a kid in the 70’s; there were constantly bombings in Cleveland, so much so I thought it was normal and in some point in the 80’s I thought “what happened to the weekly bombings we used to have when I was a kid?”

  I grew up in Steubenville. I was born in 1956. &nbsp;Alot of people called it Little Chicago. &nbsp;my grandparents and parents talked about all the things that went on along the river front. &nbsp;A whole lot of gambling and prostitution and the mob ran it all. &nbsp;The town was booming back then.

  Youngstown born and raised here. I grew up near Center Street bridge, next to the steel mills <br><br>It is amazing when you talk to someone who is not from around here and you let them know where you&apos;re from. They seem to have respect for you. Haha

  I was told by relatives that Indian Lake in Russells Point, OH was a popular vacation spot for the mob during Prohibition.
