  For all their shortcomings, the Independence class carriers were a needed stopgap. They did their job.

  Should check your stats, HMS Furious did launch air strikes during WWII......(Tirpitz was one of them)

  It is an interesting way to classify how a carrier counts as amongst the worst. Take Taiho for example, as you say she only ever launched a single attack and wasn't able to recover a single aircraft, which means she makes the list, but you also point out she was probably one of Japan's best designs and was lost due to poor damage control, not any inherent flaw in the design. As for HMS Furious, sure you can point to her complete failure as a light battlecruiser, and that is fair. You can point to the fact that a pilot was lost proving the idea that aircraft could be launched over her bow and how it took three rebuilds to perfect the concept of what a carrier should be. But I feel you are doing her a massive disservice by putting her on this list. She launched the first ever carrier strike, the Tondern Raid, where seven Sopwith Camels bombed a German Zeppelin base. And during World War Two she took part in the Norwegian campaign in 1940, providing air support for British troops, Operation Torch in 1942 flying over half her Task Groups sorties in support of the landings, and in 1944 participated in both Operations Tungsten and Goodwood against the Tirpitz, her strike aircraft scoring numerous bomb hits against the battleship. I really don't understand what you think she did so badly to deserve to be added to this list.

  Honestly, when I think worst aircraft carrier I think design. &nbsp;In this aspect, far and away the worst is Graf Zeppelin. &nbsp;<br>Second is the Ryujo, too much on too little.<br>Shinano to me isn&apos;t a worst, it was never completed and the conversion wasn&apos;t full which is why it was more of a auxiliary carrier and not a fleet carrier. &nbsp;People put it there because it sank from 4 torpedo hits and its size. &nbsp;Reality was it wasn&apos;t going to be a full carrier like people think.<br>Conversion ships all had problems of varying degrees.<br>And Sable and Wolverine, were anything but worst and failures. &nbsp;I&apos;d call them massive successes for what they were designed to do. &nbsp;<br>You&apos;re overall criteria just seems weak.
